Alright, so you are likely familiar with Jinsei Motto by now, and if not, here's the quick 411. Jinsei Motto lives within CH Bar and Table. Jinsei is a wonderful sushi and omakase spot for all different occasions and has a unique positioning in the sushi scene with its edgy bar/distillery location. Oh, and we can't forget to mention their amazing fish aging program. We love them for their sushi quality, fun vibes, and amazing cooked dishes. But this post is all about their newest offering, the Jinsei Motto Lunch omakase, so let's dive right in.
To start, I am ALL ABOUT IT. I have been praying for a fast and affordable lunch omakase spot in Chicago, and Jinsei answered those prayers. There is a time and a place for a fancy, long, intricate Omakase seating. But sometimes you just need that lunch omakase to get you through the work week.
Comparing the dinner and lunch omakase options
Dinner: 18-20-piece, $175
Lunch: 10-piece, $50 (14 pieces at $75 with the premium upgrade)
The main differences between the lunch and dinner omakase were as expected. The dinner offering has more courses, as well as a mix of standard and premium nigiri bites as well as delicious cooked otsumami (small plates). The lunch omakase sticks to nigiri and leaves out some of the more luxurious/expensive ingredients such as toro and uni. We were extremely happy to find that execution, service, and quality did not differ.

Evaluating the overall value - Is it worth it?
YES. Next question? Kidding, kind of. But seriously, take our word for it when we say this $50 meal was well worth every penny. $50 for 10 quality nigiri, executed at the level Jinsei operates at is the easiest yes we have given. People often overlook the importance of rice, its temperature, and its seasoning, however, these factors weigh heavily on my omakase reviews. These aspects are present in their lunch omakase and make it that much better.
Takeaway
Book the omakase. Eat the yummy sushi. Take a load off work.
